Emo was originally a term for music which translated to "emotional [hardcore]". First started by Rites of Spring, a DC Hardcore band and the translated out to numerous bands and a conversion to a specific style. The name has been hijacked by everything and really doesn't relate to it's roots anymore.Emo style is indie-hipster clothing. Tight jeans. Dress shirt, tight sweater and converse sneakers is a good example of emo wear.

young people who wear their heart on their sleeve, supposidly feel more deeply but unfortunately are self-destructive and get a kick out of things like cutting themselves and comparing scars with other people. They are sad and misguided often. They want sympathy. Be kind but not too close or they will suck your life away ;-)

If you go to "search for questions" Type in "emo" and you'll see that 2 thousand people have asked the same question. You should always search your question first so that you don't waste the 5 points by asking questions that soooo many have asked already.Just a suggestion.
